We left Green River this morning and headed west across the whole state of Utah. A drive through Utah is actually a privilege because it is absolutely gorgeous!
I took all of these photos from the passenger seat during our 4 hour drive to Great Basin National Park, the first of 7 Parks we plan to visit on our big ,adventure.
Rangers describe the Park as "mountains in a sea of sagebrush." The name Great Basin refers to a huge geographic area, centered in Nevada and stretching from California's Sierra Nevada to Utah's Wasatch Mountains, where waters have no outlet to the sea. Streams and rivers drain into shallow salt lakes, marshes and mud flats, eventually evaporating in the dry desert air. We drove through the Great Basin for most of today and will continue to travel through it tomorrow.
We're spending tonight in a crowded RV park in Ely, Nevada and will be out of here early tomorrow to drive to Lake Tahoe to meet our daughter Lindsey, son in law Jon and Porter their dog. We are counting the hours until we are all together on the Rhoda.
Utah is our favorite state to drive through!
Pretty spectacular!
P.S. are the highway lines blue?
