A Day To Remember...Mule Riding in Bryce, Zion and Pie!

I have always loved horses and riding, especially my horse Blue. My dear husband was never interested in either. When we moved to Colorado, I continued horsing around with the Westernaires. That's me in the mask during the pandemic driving the chuck wagon.

Somehow I talked my non horsey Jamie into spending our 40th anniversary at a guest ranch that offered 4 hours of riding every day. Guess who became a passionate horseman? Yup. Jamie fell in love with horses and riding!

When we were planning our trip to Bryce and Zion, Jamie wanted to go riding. He found a stable in Bryce and reserved two spots for us this morning.. There were 10 of us and I was the most experienced rider. The wrangler lined us up and began assigning us to horses. The first woman was given a pretty palomino. Her husband got a lovely paint. Two quiet bays went to an elderly couple. Jamie and I got Jesse and Lulu, the two mules. WTF, Mules? We mounted up and spent a wonderful two hours riding to the rim of Bryce Canyon. Jamie loved Jesse and my little Lulu was delightful and... stubborn as a mule. She had the ears as our Corgi, Gizmo.

After riding we went back to Rhoda to get the dogs. After a walk and quick lunch, we headed to Zion National Park. We didn't really expect much from Zion because nearby Bryce is so spectacular. The truth is that Zion is absolutely breathtaking. See for yourself.

On the way back to Rhoda, we stopped at the Thunderbird to pick up another pie in case we met more terrific people at the campground. No one was around to share it with so we put it in the fridge. Bryce, maybe new friends and more pie tomorrow.
